New Developments and Initiatives Will Be Announced for The Next London Fashion Event

Buyers, Suppliers Praise London Fashion Sourcing EventLaunched in 2011 as a fledgling event with just  seventeen exhibitors and three countries represented, the 2012 edition of Fashion SVP, held in September at Olympia, saw the number of exhibitors more than double to thirty-six, the number of countries represented increased to twelve, and the successful introduction of industry seminars, focusing on key sourcing issues.

Clothing producers from Romania, Lithuania, Latvia, Spain, Great Britain, Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey, France, Portugal, Italy and Sweden provided a strong range of expertise and specialisation to many different brand and retail buying groups including Marks & Spencer, Debenhams, John Lewis, Esprit, Edinburgh Woollen Mill, Animal among other leading UK and international groups.       Show director, Buzz Carter commented: “The success of this edition of Fashion SVP, confirmed by the growth in exhibitors and visitors, up by a huge 82%, as well as very positive feedback from all sides, and a strong level of space booking for the next event, is the culmination of many months’ hard work and commitment from the show team. Support from the industry has been vital, and we greatly appreciate the assistance regarding the direction and development of the event given by major stakeholders, to shape Fashion SVP exactly as the industry requires, for the benefit of all.”   Said Luiza Pantazi, director of Romanian childrenswear supplier, Arana: “The show was very good. We met interesting and quality buyers including children’s wear buyers from a variety of boutiques as well top retail chains.”  Adnane Khalifa, director of Larinor (Morocco), added:  “We were very happy with the results of Fashion SVP. The organisers’ work showed through the quality of buyers including top professionals from leading UK high street retail groups.”    From a visitors’s perspective, Sarah Rasmussen, Supply & Sourcing Manager for New Look, said: “The show was fantastic, it was a great opportunity to listen to seminars and meet with new suppliers who may be of interest. Overall I think it was well planned and the venue was appropriate. It’s good to have representatives from the industry speaking during the day at regular intervals and include suppliers from a wide range of different sourcing countries.”   Seminar sessions were led by Debenhams’ divisional trading director Adam Creasey, who compared Near East with Far East sourcing, observing that the local region’s manufacturers stood to gain from a move away from the Far East in sourcing. Other seminars featured topical sessions on ethical sourcing, supply chain transparency and supplier evaluation, and were well received by event delegates.     New developments and initiatives will be announced shortly for the next edition of Fashion SVP, scheduled to take place at Olympia, London on 22nd-24th September 2013.
