Pouches Are Giving World Dominance a Good and Ardent Go

Pouches are giving world dominance a good and ardent go but cans remain the food and drink package of choice. Three of every four people prefer steel cans, based on features such as recyclability, taste quality, shelf life, safety and maintaining nutritional value. [Research by MindClick Global for the Steel Market Development Institute (SMDI), November 2013].

Lanico is doing its bit for cans. It has manufactured and supplied more than 100,000 seaming machines for dry, fluid and pasty products. It has been researching and developing innovative packaging machines for the can making and canning industry for almost 100 years. It has worked its way to the forefront of suppliers of necking, flanging and seaming machines as well as complete production lines, particularly for aerosol and rectangular cans.

And it will show its range of fully stainless can seaming machines in operation at interpack 2014.

The fully automatic model V110 SVA 50 T, for example, is for powdery or chunky products, such as milk powder, pastries or pasties. The stainless and splashproof machine can operate as a stand-alone unit or in combination with a filling-machine. With its four seaming rollers, production speeds of up to 3000 cans per hour can be reached. It gets its versatility from a wide working range of 45 to 250 millimetres height and 56 to 113 millimetres diameter. The change parts are designed to enable change-overs to be done very quickly. Height changes can be performed in less than two minutes. The seaming rollers are mounted and preset on a special lever system. When a diameter change is carried out the whole lever system is exchanged to avoid the normal lengthy set-up time of the seaming rollers. Thus diameter changes can be performed in less than ten minutes. The frequency-controlled motor drive ensures a smooth start-up, the cans and ends are fed automatically. The machine can be easily controlled via touch panel. For processing oxygen-sensitive products it can optionally be equipped with a gas injection system.
