Sumitomo Has Reduced Operating Rates at Its Caprolactam Plant to 50% Capacity Levels

Sumitomo Chemical Co has reduced operating rates at its Caprolactam (CPL) plant to 50% capacity levels.

This was revealed to fibre2fashion by a Sumitomo official. Providing reasons for lowering the rates, he said, “Demand from China had gone down, but in recent days it is now steady and slowly increasing”.

“We hope to increase operating rates to 70 percent in the near future, as demand from Chinese market is gradually increasing”, he informed.

Located at Niihama, Ehime prefecture in Japan, the CPL plant comprises two lines with production capacities of 100,000 mt/year and 80,000 mt/year, respectively.
