Nvidia GTX 1080 Wins Graphics Card of The Year at TrustedReviewsawards 2016

The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 has won Graphics Card of the Year at the TrustedReviews Awards 2016.

Nvidia’s flagship graphics card, introduced in May this year as part of the new 10-series GPUs, is powerful, efficient, and cleverly designed. Outclassing every other consumer card on the market, the GTX 1080 is a computing force to be reckoned with.

Here’s what Computing Editor Michael Passingham, a man who was overclocked at birth, had to say:

“Nvidia redefined what we could expect from a top-end graphics card in 2016. While the GTX 1080 is the most expensive consumer card the company released this year, it represents massive progress in both power and efficiency that has quickly trickled down to graphics cards costing under £150. Nobody’s come close to matching it this year, which is why it’s our winner.”

Built on Nvidia’s latest Pascal microarchitecture and crafted using a combination of super-efficient 14nm and 16nm manufacturing processes, the GTX 1080 has become the go-to card for gamers demanding the very best for their ludicrously powerful rigs.

In our review, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 scored a respectable 4.5/5, praised for its fantastic performance, great design, and how highly overclockable it is. Here was our verdict, at the time of review:

“As it stands, it’s the most powerful consumer graphics card you can buy, with AMD yet to show its hand in 2016. The 1080 also represents good value, even if the price is higher than the previous generation. This is (nearly) gaming perfected.”

Congratulations to Nvidia, and here’s hoping that there are many more excellent cards in the pipeline.
