Audi Sport Quattro Concept Hits The Road to Thank Facebook Fans

The first video of the Audi Sport quattro concept has been officially released by the German car maker as a thank you to its Facebook fans.

Celebrating Audi AG’s Facebook page eclipsing 100,000 likes, the video shows the 515kW/880Nm plug-in hybrid Sport quattro concept on the road for the first time following its debut at last month’s Frankfurt motor show.

Tipped to become a production reality in around 2016, the Audi Sport quattro concept previews a modern-day successor to the German car maker’s famous all-wheel-drive coupe of the 1980s.

Sending drive from a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine and a 110kW/400Nm electric motor to all four wheels via an eight-speed ‘tiptronic’ automatic transmission, the concept also employs a sport differential to vary torque distribution between the rear wheels.

Combined with cylinder deactivation and stop-start technology, Audi claims not only 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds and a 305km/h top speed but also efficiency of 2.5L/100km and 59g/km. All despite the 4.6m-long Sport quattro weighing a not insignificant 1850kg.

Able to be driven in three different modes – EV, Hybrid and Sport – the 2+2 concept has an all-electric range of up to 50km.

The Audi Sport quattro concept is the second time Audi has flirted with the idea of a new version of its all-paw rally legend, with the Audi quattro concept debuting at the 2010 Paris motor show.
