Clariant has been developing color and additive products for plastics like polylactic acid (PLA) made from corn, sugar, starch and other natural raw materials, in order to help customers meet their sustainability goals.
Clariant supplies most of its products in traditional solid masterbatch form or Liquid Vehicle Technology (LVT), which provides economic advantages in several applications, according to the firm.
According to the firm, it provides a business case analysis for materials, manufacturing efficiency, and productivity that encompass the total package.
New RENOL-compostable and CESA-compostable masterbatches were recently introduced by the firm, which it claims meets the US and European compostability and ecotoxicity standards.
CESA-extend is also being used in PLA biopolymer film and foamed sheet to cut down material consumption and improve performance properties, along with creating a lighter weight-end product.
