Taylor's Furniture & Appliance will consolidate its two stores here into one early next year, the Amarillo (Texas) Globe-News reported.
Owner Scott Taylor told the newspaper, "The days of multiple store locations for independents, other than restaurants, is a thing of the past." The retailer's plan is to move out of its 37,000-square-foot downtown location on Polk Street and operate solely out of its showroom on Western Street.
Taylor told the Globe-News that the changing demographics of the retailer's downtown consumer base, as well as the potential to lease the downtown location in a district that's in growth mode, played into the decision.
