Ml20 Markless Sensors Made by Sick Has High Degree of Ruggedness Ease of Integration

German producer of sensor solutions SICK has introduced the ML20 markless sensors that eliminate any requirement for optical marking on the package and deliver flexibility, design freedom in packaging applications.

According to the company, the ML20 has high degree of ruggedness as well as ease of integration and commissioning. Benefits offered by the sensors include reduced set-up time while changing labels and formats as well as avoiding unnecessary material usage.

The ML20 employs a novel method for contrast pattern detection, involving teaching-in a pattern sequence to the sensor, which, at a scanning speed of up to 7m/s, is detected during processing, resulting in the output of a switching signal, ferret.com.au reported.

SICK's markless sensors open up new possibilities for packaging processes, design packages and labels and help designers eliminate the need to integrate any optically distracting markings.

Since pattern detection is active immediately, the sensors avoid unnecessary cutting loss and waste when changing label or film rolls and allow the material to be used immediately after the beginning of the roll.
