Mack's innovative Twin Y air suspension has been named a finalist for the 2013 Swedish Steel Prize, and the company is hoping its fans will show their support to help make it a winner.

The award is presented by SSAB, the global leader in high-strength steel. It recognizes the most innovative design using high-strength steel.

Mack is one of four finalists for the award.

"We're proud to be one of the finalists for the 2013 Swedish Steel Prize," said John Walsh, Mack vice-president of marketing. "The Mack Twin Y is truly a game-changer for the industry. The design enables customers to have a smooth, stable ride offered in a lighter weight suspension, resulting in fuel efficiency benefits and a cost savings for our customers."

The Twin Y is available on the Mack Pinnacle and is 400 lbs lighter than other air suspensions. The Y blades are joined to the axle with both upper and lower axle seats, which reduces suspension wind-up and improves tire traction and braking control. The axle seats are clamped to the axle housing using huck u-bolts and don't require retorquing.

Customers claim to be seeing a 25% improvement in drive tire life. Folks can vote for the Twin Y to win the award here.
