SPX Secured a $26m Contract to Provide Dairy Processing Systems at Lotte's Facility

SPX, a US-based manufacturing and industrial equipment supplier, has secured a $26m contract from multinational conglomerate Lotte to provide dairy processing systems for expansion of the latter's manufacturing facility in Japan.

As per the contract, SPX will install full-line dairy processing systems which will utilize its APV and Waukesha Cherry-Burrell brand processing equipment and technologies.

Work on the project is scheduled to commence in early 2014 with increased capacity expected to be fully operational in 2015.

SPX Flow Food & Beverage president Marc Michael said, "By working closely with Lotte to expand the production capacity of their main ice cream processing facility, we are confident we can help them benefit from greater production capacity and economies of scale.

"As a result, we anticipate this new facility will better position Lotte to meet future demand for its ice cream products across Japan."

Headquartered in Tokyo, Lotte is a food and shopping corporation in Japan and South Korea. The company started producing ice cream and other confectionery products in 1948 and formally launched Lotte Ice Cream in 1972.
