TV Vendors Increasing Their Number of Large-Size High-Resolution TV Units for Sale

The LED TV penetration rate is expected to increase in 2013 mostly due to TV vendors increasing their number of large-size high-resolution TV units for sale, according to market observers.

TV vendors such as LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics are expected to continue releasing large-size LED TV models while discontinuing overall CCFL TV production. The two makers began discontinuing production of CCFL models in 2012 while emphasizing more on developing LED TV units, which has helped push up the LED TV penetration rate to 70%, said the observers.

While the number of LED lights used in LED TVs is decreasing due to advanced technology, large-size as well as high-resolution edge-lit TVs are expected to be focuses for TV vendors in 2013, which is likely to result in an even higher LED TV penetration rate, added the observers.

The observers also noted that expected sales' increases for direct-type LED TV units in China, India and other emerging markets in 2013 will also be contributing factors to the expected increased LED TV penetration during the period.
