The Commonwealth of Virginia Has Selected Aetna for Provision of a Health Benefits Plan

The Commonwealth of Virginia has selected Aetna for provision of a health benefits plan option to its more than 200,000 eligible employees, retirees and family members, effective from 01 July.

Dubbed COVA HealthAware, the consumer-directed health plan will be covered at 100% in-network, helping employees stay on top of their health.

Aetna Virginia public sector business market head Michael Bucci said the consumer-directed health plans provides members with more choice in making health benefits decisions, whilst also offering them more control over health care spending.

''COVA HealthAware helps employees save money now and in the future by getting them involved in managing their health and wellness,'' Bucci added.

Additional features include a commonwealth-funded health reimbursement arrangement to enable employees pay for current health care expenses and save for future ones, preventive and diagnostic dental care, routine eye and hearing exams, behavioral health services and access to the company's Employee Assistance Program.

The plan also help participants and their spouses to earn additional financial incentives, as high as up to $150 each annually, in their health reimbursement arrangement for healthy behaviors, such as getting an annual physical or receiving a flu shot.

Aetna offers voluntary and consumer-directed health insurance products and related services, including medical, pharmacy, dental, behavioral health, group life and disability plans, and medical management capabilities and health information technology services across the US.
