The High Point Market Will Be Recognized with a Cast-Iron Historical Marker on Main Street

HIGH POINT — The High Point Market will be recognized with a cast-iron historical marker on Main Street, according to a report in the High Point Enterprise.

North Carolina's Marker Advisory Committee approved a marker last month that designates the market as an event of statewide historical significance. Officials said the committee, comprised of historians who review proposed markers for the N.C. Highway Historical Marker Program, approved five markers out of 25 applications reviewed.

The sign will be installed on South Main Street near the International Home Furnishings Center sometime after the April market, which takes place April 5-10.

"We're obviously pleased and proud that the state's going to do something to recognize our industry and more importantly, our market," said Tom Conley, president and CEO of the High Point Market Authority.
