Genesis Photonics Is Expected to See Consolidated Revenues for The Third Quarter of 2013

Taiwan-based LED epitaxial wafer and chip maker Genesis Photonics is expected to see consolidated revenues for the third quarter of 2013 increasing 10% mainly due to steady shipments of LED chips used in lighting, and for smartphones from China-based vendors including ZTE, Huawei Device and Lenovo, according to LED industry sources in Taiwan.

With shipments mainly to clients in Japan and China, Genesis' lighting-use LED chips account for over 50% of its consolidated revenues, the sources said. LED chips used in smartphones and LCD TVs each take up 20-25% of Genesis' consolidated revenues, the sources indicated.

Genesis is expected to utilize 80% of its production capacity on average during the third quarter, the sources noted. The company is poised to produce TV-use LED chips to launch in the peak sales period prior to the 2014 Lunar New Year, with shipments expected to begin in November, the sources said.

Genesis has started producing LED chips specifically for flip chip packaging, including 3D COB (chip on board) chips, with the corresponding revenue proportion expected to rise from 5-10% in the third quarter to 10-15% in the fourth, the sources indicated.
