A New Spin-off Device That Will Land as Its Bigger, Phablet-Sized Brother

HTC Hima Ace Plus Leaks as Beefed up M9 Phablet

HTC One M9 Hima rumours are coming thick and fast, but we’ve just heard about a new spin-off device that will land as its bigger, phablet-sized brother.

The HTC Hima Ace Plus looks set to tout a 5.5-inch display with a mega 1440 x 2560 resolution, trumping the 5-inch 1080p offering seen on last year’s HTC One M8.

The leak comes courtesy of Portuguese site 4GNews, and sheds light on a hefty chunk of the yet-to-be announced device’s spec sheet.

According to the report, the device will make use of Qualcomm’s new octa-core Snapdragon 810 chipset clocked in at 2.3GHz.

This will sit alongside 3GB of memory and 32GB of built-in storage – no mention of a microSD slot thus yet, but we’d wager it’ll show up come launch time.

Photography will be handled by a 20-megapixel rear-facing camera, with selfies managed by a front-facing 4-megapixel sensor.

All of this will be kept ticking along thanks to a 3000mAh battery, and dragged together in tech harmony through Android 5.0 Lollipop skinned with HTC’s Sense 7.0 OS.

Audiophiles will also be pleased to hear that HTC’s BoomSound stero speakers will be making an appearance, and will be front-firing thanks to placement on the top and bottom bezels.

A fingerprint scanner that will work when the screen is off is also mentioned, but that’s about it as far as feature details go for now.

So here’s the bad news. While the HTC One M9 Hima is expected to launch somewhere around MWC 2015 time (read: March/April), this heftier offering reportedly won’t land until August or September.
