CEA Announced The Launch of The Vehicle Intelligence Marketplace

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® today announced the launch of the Vehicle Intelligence Marketplace at the 2015 International CES®. Owned and produced by CEA, the 2015 CES, the global gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies, will run January 6-9, 2015, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Vehicle Intelligence Marketplace will be located at CES Tech East, in the North Plaza of the Las Vegas Convention and World Trade Center (LVCC). CES Tech East includes the LVCC, Westgate Las Vegas (Westgate) and Renaissance Las Vegas (Renaissance). This Marketplace will feature autonomous driving, collision avoidance, and vehicle communication technologies. Exhibitors in this area will have the opportunity to conduct track demonstrations within the parking lot as well as on-the-road demos.

Underscoring the expanding intersection between consumer technologies and the car, a record 10 automotive manufacturers will exhibit at the upcoming 2015 CES. Audi, BMW, Chrysler, Ford, GM, Hyundai, Mazda, Mercedes, Toyota and Volkswagen will showcase their latest technologies among an enhanced lineup of automotive technology exhibits, keynotes, marketplaces and conference sessions. Automotive exhibits at the 2015 CES will cover more than 165,000 net square feet of exhibit space, up 17 percent over the 2014 show.

“As the car has become more connected we have seen the popularity of in-vehicle technologies increase as well. We created the Vehicle Intelligence Marketplace to showcase advanced innovations and how these technologies are making the driving experience safer,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. “The continued growth of the automotive category at CES parallels the rapid evolution of in-vehicle technologies. From connectivity to autonomous driving technologies to other rapidly evolving innovations, consumers today view in-vehicle technology as an important factor in their buying decisions.”

CEA industry forecasts predict sales of factory-installed vehicle technologies will increase by three percent in 2015 to $11.3 billion. Connected systems, like OnStar and Ford SYNC, offer infotainment, communication, safety and driver assistance solutions and services. CEA consumer research shows approximately 30 percent of U.S. households now own a vehicle with a communications, safety or entertainment system.
