ATDC Is Organising a First-of-Its-Kind Advanced Workshop

Under its Training of Trainers (TOT) programme, the Apparel Training & Design Centre (ATDC) is organising a first-of-its-kind advanced workshop on ‘Lean Manufacturing Practices and Implementation’ by experts from Sri Lanka Institute of Textiles and Apparel (SLITA).  

The four day workshop would be held at ATDC-Juki Innovation Centre in Gurgaon from 12-16 January 2015.  

The workshop will provide new insights in achieving higher efficiency and productivity, for which the Sri Lankan apparel industry is well-known.  

The training will focus on topics such as goals of the lean enterprise, financial aspects, value engineering, process mapping, standard operations, visual management, 5 S and its implementation, value steam mapping (VSM), lead time – video on cellular concept , behavioural metrics and various case studies exercises.  

Sanjay Kumar Panda, secretary (Textiles), Government of India, will inaugurate the first-time workshop.  

ATDC invited nominations of senior professionals involved in apparel production in Delhi/NCR apparel industry to participate and benefit from the workshop. Already, 12 industry personnel have confirmed their participation.  

The workshop will have a total of 30-35 participants, including 12-15 industry participants and 20 ATDC trainers from ATDC’s pan-India centres.  

ATDC, which functions under the aegis of Apparel Export Promotion Council, has emerged as India’s largest vocational training network for the apparel sector with around 175 ATDCs, including 65 ATDC vocational institutes and over 135 ATDC-SMART centres and Skill Camps functioning in major apparel clusters spread across 22 states and 85 cities pan-India.
