SAS Expands Annual Production Capacity for Solar-Grade

Sino-American Silicon Products (SAS) will expand annual production capacity for solar-grade crystalline silicon ingots and wafers from 900MWp and 850MWp respectively in 2014 to 1.1GWp and 1GWp respectively in 2015, the company said at an April 1 investors conference.

In addition, SAS will have Sunrise Global Solar Energy, its subsidiary maker of monocrystalline silicon solar cells, expand annual production capacity from 500MWp in 2014 to 850MWp in 2015. Among Taiwan-based solar cell makers, Sunrise Global has led in adopting PERC (passivated emitter and rear cell) to hike energy conversion rates.

For 2014, SAS posted consolidated revenues of NT$27.821 billion (US$880 million), up 25.23% on year, gross margin of 12.57%, up 1.59pp, net operating profit of NT$1.447 billion, up 130.05%, net profit of NT$1.128 billion, up 282.37%, and net EPS of NT$2.06.
