Cooper Plant Was Accepted Into The MDEQ Enhance Program

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. announced that its Clarksdale, Miss., plant was accepted into the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality’s (MDEQ) enHance program for its record of landfill and energy usage reductions.

Cooper’s Tupelo, Miss., plant was similarly recognized in 2011.

The enHance voluntary stewardship program, which stands for “envision heightened awareness nurturing conservation and environmental excellence,” recognizes committed environmental leaders in Mississippi who accomplish environmental initiatives beyond those legally required.

The program is designed to encourage the reduction of waste and conservation of resources, resulting in long-term economic benefits and continuous environmental enhancement. Participating organizations demonstrate a record of, and make a commitment to, achieving environmental improvements.

“As a long-standing corporate citizen of Mississippi, Cooper is committed to being a good environmental steward,” says Fred Doster, plant manager at the Clarksdale facility.

“Our plant is committed to using energy and natural resources efficiently, reducing waste, and preventing pollution through the use of good environmental practices and being accepted into the enHance program further demonstrates our commitment to environmental excellence.”
