Trade Resources Industry Views Hasbro to End Gender Categories in Revenue Reports

Hasbro to End Gender Categories in Revenue Reports

The toy firm revealed the news in its 2016 year-end earnings report.

Hasbro has revealed plans to cut its gender categories in all of its future revenue reports.

The company detailed the decision within its 2016 year-end earnings report, which stated that Hasbro will now report on franchise and partner brands, Hasbro gaming and emerging brands, instead of pre-school, girls and boys.

In the report, Hasbro stated: “Beginning with the first quarter, we will no longer report revenue along the boys, games, girls and pre-school categories.

“Instead, we will provide a revenue breakdown of franchise brands, partner brands, Hasbro gaming and emerging brands. We believe this is a more relevant and appropriate view of our business.”

This news comes as a massive statement, with numerous toy companies and retailers being asked to cut gendered toys over the past few years.

According to the report, Hasbro’s boys’ department grew by four per cent over the last year, while the firm’s girls’ department spiked by 50 per cent.
