Healthcare products company, Covidien, has purchased Israel-based Oridion Systems for approximately $310m.

Under the acquisition, Oridion Systems' business will be integrated into Covidien's oximetry and monitoring product line segment.

Oridion is involved in developing etCO2 breath sampling lines, specialized algorithms, as well as microstream capnography monitors and modules which provide an early indication of airway compromise to make patient care safer and easier.

Covidien respiratory and monitoring solutions president Robert White said the acquisition of Oridion will expand the company's portfolio with a key monitoring technology.

"Oridion's products and technology will complement the Company's pulse oximeter and monitoring product lines, enabling us to offer a complete portfolio of solutions to monitor respiratory function for our customers," White added.
