US Domestic Raw Steel Production Increases From The Same Period in The Previous Year

 

According to the American Iron and Steel Institute, in the week ending January 4, 2014, US domestic raw steel production was 1,822,000 net tons while the capability utilization rate was 76.1 percent. Production was 1,812,000 net tons in the week ending January 4, 2013, while the capability utilization then was 74.4 percent. The current week production represents a 0.6 percent increase from the same period in the previous year. Production for the week ending January 4, 2014 is up 2.8 percent from the previous week ending December 28, 2013 when production was 1,733,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 74.0 percent.

Adjusted year-to-date production through January 4, 2014 was 1,822,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 76.1 percent. That is a 0.6 percent increase from the 1,812,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 74.4 percent.
