Mauser Acquires Berenfield Containers to Expand Its Footprint in North America

Germany-based industrial packaging firm Mauser Group has acquired Berenfield Containers through its subsidiary in the US for undisclosed amount.

The acquisition will strengthen its Mauser's presence in the US besides expanding the products offered by the company.

Founded in 1914, Berenfield currently has six manufacturing facilities in five cities in the US. It produces a range of steel and fiber drums.

After the acquisition, the Berenfield operations will be merged with the Mauser network in North America. Mauser operates 20 drum and IBC plants in the region.

Mauser USA president and CEO Glenn Frommer said: "We are excited to add Berenfield's highly experienced team and locations to expand MAUSER's manufacturing capabilities in the United States.

"Our customers expect a high quality global standard for packaging, available in locations convenient to their operations, and Berenfield Containers has offered this high level of service and support for more than a century. We are delighted to add innovative manufacturing capabilities and a broader range of products - including a wide range of drum sizes - to the MAUSER portfolio."

Mauser, a major producer of industrial packaging, was founded in 1896. It currently employs 4,500 people, with a revenue of over €1.4bn.

Berenfield Containers president and CEO Len Berenfield said: "When you combine two companies, each with more than 100 years of experience, there are tremendous opportunities for growth.

"Berenfield's North American focus on steel and fiber drum manufacturing, in conjunction with Mauser's global leadership in industrial packaging, will create tremendous benefits for our customers.

"These include more convenient production sites, expanded product offerings, and access to a global network of experts and best practices. We look forward to the coming months of integration into the Mauser family."

Separately, Mauser's subsidiary National Container Group acquired Engineered Recycling Company to add plastic recycling its portfolio in North America.
