The First Porsche Macan Will Leave The Luxury German Car Maker's Leipzig Factory

Porsche Macan Production Confirmed for December

The first Porsche Macan will leave the luxury German car maker’s Leipzig factory in December.

Noted during an announcement regarding the completion of Porsche’s new paint shop at the plant, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche Leipzig GmbH Siegfried Bulow said the first of the baby SUVs should roll out in the final month of 2013.

“The paint shop facilities have already been installed and the first car bodies will be painted in a test operation as early as August,” Bulow said.

“We are on schedule and are very keen to see the first car roll off the production line in December.”

Bulow said the completion of the paint shop, which required helicopters to install nine air vents on the roof of the building from a height of 40 metres, was the final major step in the preparatory stage of production of the Porsche Macan.

Porsche AG says it’s investing about 500 million euros ($713 million) in the expansion of its Leipzig factory for production of the Macan, with the company extending its facility with new body and paint shop.

Porsche is expected to have hired more than 1000 new workers in preparation for the start of Macan production.
