Turnover in The French Furniture Sector Has Shown Decline by 3% Last Year

Turnover in the French furniture sector has shown decline by 3% to €9.54bn last year, after two years of growth. In this vein, 2012 has developed along similar lines as the crisis year of 2009. The furniture trade association FNAEM, the industry association UNIFA and the IPEA institute informed about this development on occasion of a joint press conference about the situation of the French furniture industry. The sector had shown a slight plus in turnover of 1.4% until the end of May. Since June, however, the situation has deteriorated significantly. In this vein, the months of June (-4.4%), July (-7.2%), August (-8.6%), September (-3.6%), October (-8.5%) and December (-8.7%) all showed considerable year-on-year decline. In November alone (+0.1%) turnover was unchanged from 2011.
