According to regulations published by China express association, Express Companies should keep providing pickup and delivery services for at least 6 hours every day during spring festival. Three of four days ago, state post bureau requested express companies should provide delivery service during the coming festival through their websites and place of business.
Some online stores have to stop running during spring festival because express companies cannot guarantee the parcel will be picked up and delivered normally during the spring festival. Recently, online shops at Taobao, one after another, claim that they will go out of business before coming festivals.
Several express companies claim that they can't keep working during festivals. Because most courier come from different cities and they need to go back home a few days early for the festival.
It is said that couriers’ holiday is from the 28th day of last lunar month to the 6th day of the first lunar month of the new year. Express companies find themselves squeezed between high operating costs and shrinking business. Therefore, they arrange holidays for their staff.
