Cstri Is Planning to Conduct Training on Product Design for Silk

A 10-day training programme on silk, “Product design, development and diversification and possibilities for silk” would start on December 31, 2012 at Central Silk Board complex in Bangalore.

Being organized by Bangalore-based Central Silk Technological Research Institute (CSTRI) under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, the programme would emphasize on imparting theoretical and practical knowledge about different types of textile and silk production, silk varieties available in the market as well as physical, chemical and aesthetic properties of silk.
 
The programme would also focus on topics like silk technology and flow chart of silk activities, surface ornamentation on fabric, dyeing and printing handworks, knitting and non-woven fabrics, use of silk in medical industry, uses of by-products and role of textile laboratory.
 
Topics like the structure of Indian silk industry, current global demand-supply situations and India’s proficiency in global silk market would also be touched upon.
 
The programme scheduled to go on till January 11, 2013 is meant to benefit textile and fashion designing students, college faculties, industrial workers and housewives.
 
Set up by the Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, in 1983, CSTRI is India’s only research institute involved in carrying out research and development activities on silk technology.
