TCL Packaging Is Introducing a New Laser Micro Perforation and Scribing System

UK-based packaging technology provider TCL Packaging in partnership with Rofin-Baasel is introducing a new laser micro perforation and scribing system.

The system comes with three scanning heads featuring Rofin two-axis technology and lasers that operate along and across the web to facilitate designs of micro perforations.

The new system is claimed to create films that maximize shelf-life for various fresh food products with unique respiration rates and storage conditions.

TCL managing director Mike Golding said that the new high-tech laser equipment will enable the company to provide range of packaging solutions from one system.

"This will improve flexibility and turn round and increase our capacity by around 200%," Golding said.

"We chose Rofin-Baasel as they are leaders in their field and had the technical skills and commitment to work with us to develop a system to our specification and one that will be integrated into existing slitting equipment at our Telford factory early in 2014."

The system is also capable of scribing packaging films through one layer of laminated films for tear off strips and separate sections.
