Corning Exhibits Pharmaceutical Glass Technology at German Event

Corning is exhibiting its Valor Glass technology for pharmaceutical manufacturers at this year’s CPhI Worldwide event in Germany.

The event is being held between 24 and 26 October in Frankfurt.

Pharmaceutical firms Pfizer and Merck have collaborated with Corning to use Valor Glass technology.

Valor Glass provides enhanced chemical durability with low extractable concentrations, enabling containers to eliminate delamination and protect drug products.

Glass delamination may result in adverse patient events and lead to costly corporate recalls for drug manufacturers

Valor Glass can resist damage and breakage during pharmaceutical processing and transit, as well as during in-home and clinical settings

It also helps to prevent cracks, which may result in contamination, loss of sterility and product recalls.

Valor Glass will also help to reduce particulate generation during bulk filling operations, allowing to decrease the risk of particle contamination.

In addition, the advanced glass technology enables smoother filling operations with fewer glass-related interventions.

Corning Pharmaceutical Technologies vice president and general manager Ron Verkleeren said: "We are excited to showcase Valor Glass for the first time at an industry event. The response from the industry and our customers since we announced Valor Glass in July has been exceptional.

"We are leveraging our expertise in glass science, optical physics, vapor deposition, precision forming, and extrusion to deliver a 21st-century glass to protect medicines."
