Deco Lighting Awarded SPURR Contract for LED Lighting in California Schools and Public Agencies

Deco Lighting, has been awarded a master contract from the School Project for Utility Rate Reduction (SPURR) for interior and exterior LED lighting retrofits as of October 1, 2015. Deco Lighting was selected from among multiple vendors after an open, competitive RFP process on the basis of price, range of Design Lights Consortium qualified products available, quality of products, controls, company background and references, and additional value-add services available. The LED lighting fixtures supplied by Deco Lighting will benefit school districts and other eligible parties throughout the state of California by cutting energy consumption and providing bright, evenly-balanced lighting to classrooms, hallways, and outdoor areas. The contract went into effect on October 1, 2015 and will last until September 30, 2017, at which point it may be extended if both parties choose to do so. SPURR's pricing and terms are now available for both California public education agencies and for other public agencies in the state, for use through a “piggyback” procurement.

"We thoroughly evaluated qualified LED vendors based on a number of factors, such as price, product quality, and experience,” said Michael Rochman, Managing Director of SPURR. “We are confident that Deco Lighting will be an excellent partner for us and for California public schools and public agencies.”

“We are grateful to have earned this opportunity to work with SPURR,” said Deco Lighting President, Ben Pouladian. “The SPURR program will help us continue to deliver innovative LED solutions that reduce our carbon footprint. We are excited to be a part of renovating California schools, cutting their electricity bills, and allowing them to refocus larger portions of their budgets on students, faculty, and school programs.”

The SPURR contract comes as a win for both Deco Lighting and California schools, at a time when energy efficiency is increasingly important for all consumers and school districts who strive to distribute budget funds efficiently amongst different schools and services. With more efficient lighting, the affected schools will be able to reduce energy expenses and allocate larger portions of their budgets to more pressing items. The extensive retrofit project will consist of replacing outdated T8 fluorescent tubes in classrooms, offices, and hallways with Deco’s LINEA line of LED retrofit kits that consume half the energy of their fluorescent counterparts. For large gyms and outdoor spaces, Deco Lighting will replace inefficient high bays and flood lights with LED fixtures that will reduce energy by up to 70-80%, yet deliver equivalent light output.
