O-Xylene Prices Surged up in Korea From All The World Last Week

O-Xylene prices surged up in Korea in the week ending December 22. Overall, market sentiment and downstream demand improved. Prices of upstream and downstream products also surged up. 

In the initial days of last week, prices were assessed at US$ 1540/ton higher by US$ 60/ton, as compared to the same period of the previous week. Prices were assessed at US$ 1540-1555/ton FOB Korea during the week.   O-Xylene prices went up by 3% w-o-w in S.E. Asia as overall, market sentiment improved.    In Europe, O-Xylene prices showed similar trend as Asia, due to higher upstream product prices. O-Xylene prices were assessed higher by 2%, as compared to the previous week. Prices were spotted stable during the week.    Initial contract prices for the month of December were settled at € 1093/ton (US$ 1419/ton) FD NWE. This represents a decrease of € 27/ton, as compared to the last month’s contract prices.   In US, contract prices of O-Xylene for the month of December were settled at 65.50 (cents/lb) (US$ 1441/ton) higher by 1.75 (cents/lb) (US$ 39/ton) FOB US as compared to the contract prices of November.
