US-based packaging company Ball has announced plans to combine its domestic facilities.

Under the integration plan, the company will stop production at its Danville, Illinois steel aerosol packaging manufacturing facility in the second half of 2014.

Following the closure, Ball will integrate the steel aerosol plant's assets with its existing facilities and continue deliveries to its customers.

The Danville plant manufactures three-piece welded aerosol cans and ends for household products customers.

In addition, Ball will offer the plant's 47 employees with outplacement services, severance pay and other benefits, under the company policies.

The manufacturer is liable for about $7m after-tax charge for the closure that will be recorded during the fourth quarter of 2013.
