The Amazon Fire Phone 2 Has Been Tipped by Chatterbox Insiders

If you’re a staunch mega-fan of this year’s Amazon Fire phone then we’ve got good news for you – the Amazon Fire phone 2 has been tipped by chatterbox insiders.

If like most normal people, you were a bit disappointed with Amazon’s virginal offering to smartphone-dom, then at least be hopeful that the retail giant will correct its wrongdoings second time around.

According to VentureBeat, Amazon is well under way with designing a successor to the ill-received Fire phone, but it won’t be coming any time soon.

In fact, the anonymous tipsters ‘close to the situation’ reckon Amazon won’t start flogging the Fire phone 2 until at least 2016.

Fortunately this gives Amazon plenty of time to take criticisms of the Mk. 1 device on board and get the sequel right.

It’s interesting to note the purported two-year gap between handsets – typically manufacturers ship phones on yearly release cycles, with some brands (read: Sony) even opting for half-yearly cycles.

The likeliest cause for the lethargic build process is Amazon wanting to make sure its device doesn’t feel rushed.

The Fire phone landed on store shelves back on July 25, and was met with fairly chilly reception as critics and enthusiasts alike picked apart the handset for its failures.

The most common complaints targeted the sloppy operating system, outdated specs, over-the-odds pricing, and the fact that it effectively turned users into a walking shopping cart with the Firefly ‘scan and buy’ feature.
