Exports of Iron and Steel Scrap From The US Amounted to 1.32 Million Mt

According to the statistics released by the US International Trade Commission (US ITC), in October this year, exports of iron and steel scrap from the US amounted to 1.32 million mt, decreasing 14.85 percent from September and down 10.09 percent compared to October 2012. The value of these exports decreased by 13.83 percent compared to September and by 13.74 percent year on year, falling to $531.21 million.

In October, Turkey was the leading scrap export destination of the US, importing 338,850 mt, recording a 31.60 percent fall compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, Taiwan imported 206,584 mt of scrap from the US in October, down 20.28 percent month on month.

Meanwhile, in the first 10 months of this year, exports of iron and steel scrap from the US totaled 15.69 million mt, decreasing 14.77 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
