State-owned China National Petroleum Corp said Friday that its total net equity production from its overseas oil and gas projects last year totaled 59.2 million mt of oil equivalent, translating into an average 1.19 million b/d of oil equivalent.

This is a 12.3% increase from the 1.06 million boe/d of net equity overseas production the company reported for 2012.

CNPC said total gross production from its overseas projects last year reached 123 million mtoe, with crude output topping 100 million mt. It also exceeded its annual sales and earnings targets for its overseas portfolio.

In Sudan and South Sudan, CNPC said it managed to stabilize output in blocks 3 and 7 and blocks 1, 2 and 4, where it has equity stakes, bringing total production to 13.35 million mtoe (268,097 boe/d) in 2013.

Crude from blocks 3 and 7 go into Dar Blend while output from the other blocks is co-mingled as Nile Blend. CNPC has a 41% stake in the Petrodar consortium that produces Dar Blend and a 40% stake in Greater Nile Petroleum Operating Co. that produces Nile Blend.

CNPC said it faced challenges in boosting output from the Rumaila field in Iraq, but its equity production in the country last year totaled 40.72 million mt (817,747 b/d) of crude.

Output from the company's oil and gas projects in Kazakhstan was stable for the second year running at 30 million mtoe in 2013, while gas production from the Amu Darya project in Turkmenistan totaled 5.98 billion cubic meters, CNPC said.

Meanwhile, output in Latin America hit a record 13.17 million mt of crude, CNPC said.

The company said it focused significant efforts on exploration in Africa and Central Asia last year.

At an annual work meeting Thursday, CNPC's general manager Liao Yongyuan said the company plans to produce a total 329.67 million mtoe of oil and gas this year from both domestic and overseas projects, according to a report by Xinhua news agency.

The company's total domestic and overseas output last year rose 10.2% year on year to 305.65 million mtoe, the report added.
