Homag Group Boosted Its Order Intake by Another 3.5% to €156.6m

The German wood processing machinery supplier Homag Group boosted its order intake by another 3.5% to €156.6m in the second quarter of 2012. New orders had fallen 9% in the first quarter as the company was unable to replicate strong project business last year. Project business picked up a little again in the second quarter, leading chairman of the board Dr Markus Filk to believe that Homag was faring better than the rest of the sector. The firm is poised to pass the €100m mark in terms of new orders from the project business. The Holz-Handwerk fair in Nuremberg and the CIFM/Interzum in Guangzhou, China also had a positive impact on ordering. The company's order backlog was slightly shorter than the previous year at €223.6m on 30 June.
