The New Technologies Help The Textile Makers to Reduce Time and Increase Efficiency

Technological upgradation has become the most important factor in the textile value chain for textile and clothing producers to face the global structural changes taking place in the industry. The new and innovative technologies, especially software, help the textile and garment makers to reduce time and operating costs, improve quality of the product and increase efficiency in overall production.

In an interview with fibre2fashion, Dr. Andreas Seidl, CEO of Human Solutions, said, “To meet the challenges in the globalized economy, the textile and clothing industry should adopt new and innovative technologies to excel in high-value added manufacturing.”

“Textile and garment technologies cover various production and development processes on textile fibres, yarns, fabrics as well as advanced manufacturing and design techniques on garments,” he informs.

Human Solutions group focuses on the development, sales, maintenance and support of software solutions for the mobility, fashion, interior and sports sectors.

Agreeing with Dr. Seidl, Mr. Vasudeva Krishnamurthy, marketing manager of Lectra India, says, “Technology plays very important role in today’s textile and apparel production processes.”

“Automating the production processes by associating with right technology solution provider, not only reduces considerable amount of time and operating costs, but also improves quality of the product and also increases overall productivity,” he explains.

Lectra is one of the leading companies in integrated technology solutions, such as software, CAD/CAM equipment, and associated services, specifically designed for industries using fabrics, technical textiles and composite materials.

According to Dr. Seidl, new technologies benefit various sectors of the textile and clothing industry. “They are key enabling technologies to help manufacturers upgrade and improve their capability, produce innovative products, enhance production processes and support services,” he adds.

Citing an example on the benefits of technological advancements in textile and garment sector, Mr. Krishnamurthy says, “In the sampling process, it is time consuming to send physical samples multiple times to the buyer for approval. If the apparel maker and buyer implements design and pattern making software, it would be easy for them to exchange files on real time and finalize the product within few hours. Only the final product can be shipped to the buyer, if required for final approval.”

“Similarly in fabric cutting room, the garment producers can use software to get the right cut plan to save fabric substantially compared to manual cut plan,” he adds.
