Taiwan Vendors Sales Expected to Climb in 2015

The Southern Taiwan Science Park currently has 200 vendors with cumulative investments of NT$1.3 trillion (US$42.15 billion). Sales volume from the vendors totaled NT$640 billion in 2014 and are expected to climb to NT$740 billion in 2015.

The amount will be a record high for the area in 2015, with sales generated heavily from the semiconductor industry. In 2014, 10 new vendors entered the park, adding NT$40.59 billion in investments and 13 more entered in the first half of 2015 with cumulative investments during the period growing on year. Heading into the second half of the year, investments are expected to remain steady and total business generated throughout 2015 from the park is expected to grow from NT$640 billion to NT$740 billion.

The panel industry also played a major role in sales generated at the park during 2014, accounting for NT$258 billion, due to advancements in TOD technology and LTPS displays. New applications and increased specifications were leading drivers for the panel industry.

Many vendors at the park are also showing signs of moving toward investments in pharmaceutical biotechnology, food biotechnology, medical testing and medical equipment.
