New Commercial Vehicle Registrations Increased by 6.1 Percent in EU

In August this year, new commercial vehicle registrations increased by 6.1 percent year on year in the European Union, totaling 104,686 units, registering growth for the 12th consecutive month, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA). The month counted on average the same number of working days across the region compared to the same month of the previous year. Looking at the major markets, Spain (+17.6 percent), the UK (+10.7 percent), Italy (+10.5 percent) and Germany (+7.7 percent) posted increases, while new commercial vehicle registrations decreased by 6.1 percent in France, all on year-on-year basis.

In the first eight months of the current year, demand for new commercial vehicles in the EU was up 9.1 percent year on year, with 1,171,120 new registrations. Spain (+33.9 percent), Italy (+15.1 percent), the UK (+12.8 percent) and Germany (+7.5 percent) recorded increases in vehicle registrations compared to the same period last year, while France (-1.0 percent) saw its market contract on year-on-year basis.
