OnePlus 3T Has Basically Just Been Confirmed by Qualcomm

There’s been no shortage of rumours about the OnePlus 3T, but this latest revelation all but confirms the new phone.

US chip maker Qualcomm has posted a tweet that seemingly confirms the existence of the long-rumoured OnePlus 3T, a handset speculated to offer minor upgrades over this year’s OnePlus 3.

Pending the release of the rumoured Snapdragon 830, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 is the chip maker’s most powerful system-on-a-chip (SoC). It’s actually just a modified version of the Snapdragon 820, boasting 10% performance improvements. And you can see it in action already on the Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones.

Aside from performance improvements, one of the key advantages about the Snapdragon 821 is that it’s Daydream-ready – that means it supports Google’s new Daydream virtual reality platform. It’s also believed that the OnePlus 3T will be introducing a higher-density QHD display (an upgrade over the OnePlus 3’s Full HD screen) in a bid to improve the VR experience as well.

The proper OnePlus 3 launched back in June, and features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip, 6GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, quick-charging, and NFC functionality for contactless payments. We gave the OnePlus 3 a 4.5/5 score in our review, praising its high-quality build, excellent head-handling, impressive value, and solid camera.

Recent reports have suggested that the OnePlus 3T will be launching mid-way through November, but until official information arrives, we’ll have to take it with due caution.
