The new label and cap combination solution Flexi-Cap is said to prevent the illegal reuse and filling of empty containers with counterfeit substances.

This solution is applied to containers by putting a film cap over the closed container which is then covered by a label that is applied without covering the peel-open tab on the opening strip.

When the strip is opened, the bottom part of the cap, along with the label, remains attached to the container. Attempting to remove the reset of the cap destroys the label, thereby preventing the illegal, unnoticed reuse, the company said.

The Flexi-Cap with bar code printing space or NFC chip integration for electronic tracking can be used with any container type, form and size.

Schreiner said that the label construction of the Flexi-Cap can be applied without using heat, making it suitable for temperature-sensitive medicines.

The Flexi-Cap can be marked with different colors and the cap's transparent film material is printed using a variety of easily-differentiated colors.

Earlier this year, Schreiner MediPharm, along with Edelmann, developed a new booklet label system that enables consumers to access product information without opening the package.

The multi-page booklet label provides multi-lingual product information and is supplied with a security color-shifting ink to fight counterfeiting.
