This small display cabinet, featuring tempered glass and a removable serving tray, is among the pieces in Powell's licensed Bombay furniture line.

HIGH POINT — This High Point Market, Powell Home Fashions will have a separate showroom space for its licensed Bombay line of accents and youth furniture.

At previous markets the line was shown in the front half of the company's first floor space in the National Furniture Mart. Powell also shows its regular line in the balance of that space and in space 203 of the same building.

Starting this market, which runs Oct. 19-24, the Bombay line will be shown in space 200 of the NFM, which is just across the hall from Powell's second floor space. The new space was formerly occupied by Pinewood International, a bedroom resource that is no longer in business.

The space is about 12,000 square feet and Bombay will initially occupy about half of that, said Jeff Wallner, Powell's president. He said Bombay previously occupied about 4,000 square feet in the main Powell showroom.

Wallner added that licensed product needs to have its own identity and that having a dedicated showroom will help accomplish this.

"The move will capture some of the sizzle in the steak," he said.

This market, there will be 36 new items in the Bombay line, most of which are accent furniture items, but also includes a button-tufted upholstered bed.
