O-Xylene Prices Surged up in The Week Ending January 12, 2013

In Korea, O-Xylene prices surged up in the week ending January 12, 2013. Overall, market sentiment and downstream demand improved.   

In the initial days of the reporting week, prices were assessed at US$ 1590/ton higher by US$ 35/ton, as compared to the previous week. During the rest of the week, prices were assessed at US$ 1590-1595/ton FOB Korea.  

O-Xylene prices went up in S.E. Asia by 2% and stayed stable during the week.  

In Europe, O-Xylene prices showed similar trend as Asia due to strong demand from the downstream market. O-Xylene prices were assessed at US$ 1455/ton higher by US$ 20/ton, as compared to the previous week. Prices were spotted stable at US$ 1455/ton FOB Rotterdam during the week.   

In US, contract prices of O-Xylene for the month of January were settled at 71.50 (cents/lb) higher by 6 (cents/lb) FOB US as compared to the contract prices of December. Market experts said that the increase was expected due to higher contract price settlements of the upstream products.
