Axon Has Supplied Avon Cosmetics

Axon, powered by Pro Mach, has supplied Avon Cosmetics, S de R.L. de C.V., Celaya, Mexico, with an innovative shrink sleeve labeling solution for lipstick, mascara, and eyeliner.

"The quality of the label in terms of appearance and consistent application is superior to what we were able to do with our previous process," says Alonso Esquivias, Latin America Project Engineer at Avon. "Furthermore, compared to other equipment, the Axon applicator delivers higher efficiency at lower overall cost. The new system also gave us the opportunity to automate the sleeve application process for lipsticks."

Axon supplied Avon with a complete solution - an EZ-100H horizontal shrink sleeve label applicator, an Axon hot air tunnel, and an integrated roller conveyor. The unique EZ-100H accurately applies shrink sleeve labels to small, unstable cylindrical products, such as lipsticks and pencils that are not easily conveyed standing on end. The integrated roller conveyor rotates the cylindrical product during the controlled heat shrink process to ensure optimal shrink results. This system has been chosen by leading beauty and personal care product companies around the world.

The EZ-100H is rated between 60 to 70 units per minute with cylindrical product diameters measuring from 9 to 28 mm. Film lay-flat size ranges from 18 to 50 mm. Applicators come with the Axon performance guarantee and are backed by the ProCustomer pledge to provide the highest level of customer service and aftermarket support in the packaging industry. The HMI is Spanish/English bilingual for operations. Machine settings can be readjusted with the push of a button for quick changeover between different products. Axon personnel were on site at Avon for two weeks to ensure a high level of training and smooth startup.
