Domino Printing Sciences has introduced a new ink for use in its range of G-Series thermal ink jet (TIJ) printers.

The ethanol-based BK118 extends TIJ printing capabilities to code several materials such as glossy packaging, plastics, films, foils and coated cartons.

The company said the BK118 and the multi-head capability of the G-Series' TIJ printers can code onto non-porous primary packaging and glossy outer case packaging.

A single controller is enough to run about four print heads with one head printing the primary packaging and others simultaneoulsy priting on the outer case.

Domino Printing Sciences TIJ product manager Phil Parkins said: "By using the benefits of a revised cartridge that is specifically designed for solvent based inks, we offer a TIJ ink that delivers consistent, durable codes with great character sharpness and high contrast.

"Code quality and ink adhesion make BK118 ideal for high speed coding onto wrappers, sachets and flexible films."

Domino Printing Sciences sells products to more than 120 countries via a global network of 25 subsidiary offices and over 200 distributors

The company employs 2,300 people globally with manufacturing plants located in the UK, China, Germany, India, Sweden and US.
