Foursquare has expanded its recommendation capabilities by including suggestions from Facebook friends.
The new feature aims for users to see more personal information about places they want to go.
"The best recommendations often come from friends. When you're looking for a burrito or how to spend your Saturday, Foursquare can show you the Mexican restaurants, coffee shops, and museums that your friends love," said the company in a blog post.
"Starting today Foursquare will be even more personalized with the help from your Facebook friends."
While users will be available to see insights from Facebook friends who are also on foursquare, they will still have the option of only sharing check-ins with close friends who use Foursquare.
Foursquare says that they will never post on Facebook without a user's consent and Facebook friends will never see a user's check-ins if they aren't on Foursquare.
The new feature will help personalise recommendation when a user searches in explore by aggregating public things their friends do on Foursquare, like writing a tip, liking a place, or taking public photos.
Apple is currently in negotiations with Foursquare to enhance its map application after it received criticism for missing important landmarks and causing some users to become lost.
Apple had replaced Google maps with its own application on iOS 6 in September.
However, after its poor reception the company publically apologised and returned Google maps to the iPhone.
Google's map application had 10 million iOS downloads in less than 48 hours.
