Alpla To Acquire Majority Stake In Egyptian Firm Taba

Austrian packaging firm Alpla Group has agreed to acquire a majority stake in Egypt-based Taba Group to expand operations in Africa and the Middle East.

Both firms have signed a partnership agreement to form a joint venture, which will operate under the name of Alpla Taba.

The contracting parties have not disclosed the details of the deal.

Established in 1988, Taba manufactures plastic bottles and closures for international customers in the pharmaceutical, home care, body care, food and beverage industries.

The company has two locations in El Obour, near to Cairo.

Alpla Africa, the Middle East and Turkey regional manager Christoph Riedlsperger said: "This partnership is another promising step for ALPLA to help us expand our market presence in Africa and the Middle East.

"Thanks to the regional locations, we will be able to offer further benefits to our customers in the future."

With 159 locations across 42 countries, Alpla provides packaging solutions for brands in the food, beverage, cosmetics and cleaning industries.
