MADE-BY Has Launched Its Latest Tool The 'MADE-BY Wet Processing Benchmark'

MADE-BY has launched its latest tool the ‘MADE-BY Wet Processing Benchmark’, which it said, supports brands in understanding and reducing the environmental impact of their supply chains.

The MADE-BY Wet Processing Benchmark uses actual data and brings transparency and drive change.

It also illustrates the sustainability of common wet processing techniques and applications in terms of water use, energy use and potential chemical or safety hazards.

"Because there are so many variables in wet processing, the benchmark uses a range to show actual efficiency as achieved by factories under real production circumstances,” MADE-BY said.

It added, “The techniques listed within the benchmark are therefore not necessarily substitutes for one another; rather, this tool helps brands to understand the ranges of possible impact for each pre-treatment, dyeing, finishing and printing process.”

MADE-BY’s informs that Wet Processing Benchmark is an excellent resource to guide product developers and their teams to have meaningful conversations with their suppliers on the sustainability of wet processing techniques.

MADE-BY created this Benchmark in cooperation with Systainable Solutions, which is an organisation focused on making textile factories more efficient through data collection and process optimisation through proprietary software systems and processing experts.

Founded in 2004, MADE-BY has a mission to ‘Make Sustainable Fashion Common Practice’ and has offices in the Netherlands, Germany and the United Kingdom.

MADE-BY has had a significant impact on the sustainable fashion industry since its launch and in 2013 won Consultancy of the Year at the Guardian Sustainable Business Awards. (AR)
