Mondi has introduced a water soluble film, which offers a biodegradable solution for packing and dosing household products as well as industrial chemicals.

The water soluble film is intended for smart packing and dosing of powders, tabs and granulates.

Mondi said that the film offers an effective barrier to oxygen and can dissolve completely even in cold water. It can be used for single doses of dry materials like dishwasher and laundry tabs or bath salts.

An extra layer of safety feature of the film protects customers from direct contact with the contents.

Mondi chief innovation officer at consumer packaging Oliver Sperber said: “Mondi’s water soluble film provides several layers of benefits for both brands and their customers alike.

“Our committed application engineers are able to customize the film according to customers’ specific needs, in addition to providing all of the necessary on-site support required to successfully launch a product using this material.

“Interplay between central and local R&D and Innovation teams, in partnership with our customers even on-site if required, is key to this,” Sperber added.

The new water soluble films are environment friendly and reduce the overall packaging waste when compared to the regular plastic films. They are biodegradable, non-toxic and non-inhibitory.

Mondi said its films are well suited to home and personal care market and several applications in other sectors are continuing to emerge..

Mondi has recently opened its eighth art exhibition titled In Colors of Sun and Sky at its office in Vienna.
