Philips Announces a New 34-Inch Curved LCD Display at The CES 2015 Expo in Las Vegas

Philips has announced a new 34-inch curved LCD display as part of their announcements at the CES 2015 expo in Las Vegas.

The Brilliant Curved UltraWide LCD display (if you’re not into the whole brevity thing) features a 21:9 aspect ratio and a QHD resolution of 3400 x 1440.

The Dutch firm promises “gentle arc” with a “subtle immersion effect” which envelops the viewer, putting them at the centre of the desk.

That QHD resolution offers a pixel area that’s 2.4 times later than a Full HD monitor and a 178-degree viewing angle, according to Philips, while the super widescreen cinematic display makes it perfect for multitasking.

Philips is championing its ability to view multiple spreadsheets edit multiple documents or using multiple programs at a time thanks to its MultiView tech. It’ll enable you to connect a PC and a laptop at the same time and view the displays of both side by side.

It’s got a pair of built-in 7W DTS stereo speakers, a super narrow bezel, a DisplayPort, three HDMI ports, four USB 3.0 ports, an audio in and headphone out.

The firm hasn’t revealed any information about pricing and availability just yet, but the new Curved UltraWide monitor joins a growing crop of curved monitors from the likes of Samsung, LG and HP.

Just before Christmas, Samsung unveiled its SE790C monitor, another curved 34-inch offering which it’s calling it’s ‘most advanced monitor yet’

HP is also showing off a curved display at CES 2015, which rocks a 34-inch QHD resolution and a 12:9 aspect ratio.

The future of desktop computing, it seems, is curved.
